Channy Chhoeun

Channy Chhoeun is a contemporary Cambodian artist born in Battambang in 1988 and currently based in Siem Reap. His artistic journey began in childhood under unusual circumstances — drawing in the dirt with sticks while growing up in a remote jungle settlement where his family relocated in the late 1990s. What started as a simple escape soon became the foundation of a deeply personal visual language rooted in nature, memory, and human connection to the environment. (Channy Chhoeun Artist)
In 2006, Channy enrolled at Phare Ponleu Selpak in Battambang, one of Cambodia’s most influential art schools, graduating in 2013. His time there expanded his understanding of art beyond technique, shaping his belief that painting can influence awareness and social perception. (Cambodianess)
Channy is widely recognized for his vibrant acrylic paintings centered around birds, wildlife, forests, and the fragile relationship between humans and nature. Inspired by his childhood experiences in rural Cambodia, his work often reflects themes of environmental destruction, coexistence, spirituality, and survival.
